- Element3 Health Announces the Addition of Wellville Executive Founder Esther Dyson as Board Member
- Addition underscores Element3 Health’s appeal to those committed to older adult health
DENVER, Colo. (April 13, 2021) – Element3 Health, a healthy aging company committed to helping older adults get physically, socially and mentally active, today announced respected technology investor and health activist Esther Dyson will join the board of directors.
Dyson is credited with helping to shape the tech industry over the last 40 years as an analyst and conference host. She is currently the executive founder of Wellville, a 10-year, five-community nonprofit project dedicated to unleashing the value of long-term investment in health and equity. She brings a keen perspective on the intersection of technology, social closeness and healthy aging to the board, said Element3 Health CEO Ulya Khan.
“Esther has a deep appreciation for the way improving older adults’ quality of life can directly increase health and reduce too-little-too-late healthcare spending,” Khan said. “She has a deep reservoir of knowledge and a thoughtful and informed approach to tackling one of the most important issues of our society.”
Inactivity, social isolation and loneliness contribute to $75 billion in avoidable healthcare expenses every year in the United States. By getting people active physically, socially and mentally, Element3 Health aims to eliminate those unnecessary costs and improve the quality of life for people as they age.
“Element3 Health excites me because the company understands that the way to respond to the broken healthcare system is to prevent people from getting sick in the first place. Social connections and engaging physical and mental activity with other people help keep people healthy,” Dyson said. “Element3 Health’s model is unique, and I’m excited to apply some of what I learned during my many years as a board member of Meetup, an earlier company dedicated to the proposition that the best thing in life is other people.”
In her limited spare time, Dyson is a six-time weightless flyer and has trained as a backup cosmonaut. She has also served on other boards including 23andMe and WPP Group and currently sits on the boards of BAMF Health and Medesk, among others.
